Question A: Comprehension Based Question (50 Marks).
Read each text quickly and then select one.
Note marks going for each question:
- 15 Mark question should have 3 developed points with reference back to the text to support each point. (approx. three quarters of a page)
- Three mini paragraphs make it easier for the examiner to see your points clearly- the examiner will reward you for this!
Spend about 55 minutes on Question A
Question B: Functional Writing Tasks
N.B. DO NOT CHOOSE QUESTION A and QUESTION B FROM THE SAME TEXT!!!
Know layout and style of:
- Letters
- Reports
- Reviews
- Short Speech/talk
- Radio Programme
- Advice Sheet
- Diary Entries
- Dialogue/Interview
- Script
- etc...
Spend about 35 Minutes on Question B (one and a half to two pages).
Composition- Better known as "The Essay"
- It is worth more than anything else on the paper.
- 5 to 6 pages approx. (100 marks)
- Select the style of essay which you are most confident with.
- Remember to make a plan.
Spend about 1 hour and 10 Minutes (start to finish).
